Plein air - 3 days in a row

Here is the finished piece.  "Monocacy Railroad Bridge".   Three days was the charm.  First day, very overcast, nice feeling but not much drama at 1:00 to 3:00.  Second day started out pretty good, but then the rains came.  The third day the sun started to shine and the lovely fluffy clouds started to appear and the painting took on a life of its own.  I only wish I could have caught the train which passed by a few times while painting.

Jeanean, re the train that passed by a few times, it's the Walkersville Southern. There is a conductor, a great friend of mine, George Wireman, who exudes railroading. He is 92 years old and still works the tourist shortline on weekends during the summer. If you need a subject, contact me to contact him. His face should be on a poster for Disney's train. He is just an old sweetheart and would welcome being your "model!"

by the way, you will capture every railfan's (I'm a big one, thanks to Ray Rillon)heart! Soothing, makes me ache for a train ride in Frederick County again!!!
