Hello Painting Buddies!  Looks like the date for the one-day painting trip to the Catoctin Mountains is set for Sunday, October 16th.  So mark your calendars.  There will be two painting sessions one in the morning from 9:00 - 12:00 with a break for lunch on site (bring a brown bag) 1:00 - 3:00 afternoon painting.  Elena Maza is searching for a good spot for the morning painting.  I would like to suggest painting at the Waterfalls for the afternoon.  All further details of the trip will be posted  in a few weeks.  Take care,  Jeanean

This group was formed to provide short local day painting trips to areas in the Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, WV area. The trips will occur monthly, usually the first Friday or Saturday of the month.    I will organize the trips, make hotel accomodations if we decide to stay overnight somewhere, arrange for car pools and welcome any suggestions from the group.  Trips are usually for a day, sometimes  overnight.   Painters work without instruction entirely on their own.   I will facilitate a critique if it is wanted.

                      Optional: Friday, 7:00 pm  Group pot-luck dinner at Dottie's house BYOB and other food item  

                     Saturday -8:00 am  breakfast at Hotel  - paint at Assateague Wildlife refuge same schedule, dinner - your choice

                       Optional: Concert:  7:30 p.m. Sparky & Rhonda Rucker Senior Center Church Street. 

                       Cost:  $15 in advance and $18 at the door

                     Sunday - depart at 11:00

DIRECTIONS:  To main painting spot:  Assateague Island National Seashore and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

Take I-95 to Route 301, following signs to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, to Route 50. Take Route 50 to Route 13 South (in Salisbury, MD). From Route 13 South take Route 175 (about 5 miles past Pocomoke City, MD). Travel east on 175 to Chincoteague Island, go straight at the light at the foot of the drawbridge onto Maddox Blvd.and follow the signs to Assateague Island National Seashore and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
